10Oct - Dec 2021Malaysian level Organizer for 2021 Guangdong-Hongkong-Macau Greater Bay Area and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) International Bamboo Design and Construction Competition

This is the second year COSA involved in organizing the Malaysian level 2020 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area ASEAN Nations Design and Construction Competition. The competition was an initiative of The South China University of Technology and Guangzhou Nan Sha Bird Park. The competition aimed to provide opportunities to experience real construction and enhance academic exchanges among schools of architecture, design, and engineering amongst universities from south China and ASEAN regions. The theme for 2021 was 源于传统技艺 “Bamboo art space inspired by traditional arts and craft”.

COSA (UTAR) with the support of the Architects Association of Malaysia (PAM) and The Malaysian Bamboo Society (MASA) jointly hosted the event. More than 40 entries were received from participating universities in Malaysia. An exhibition of the winning entries was held at PAM center for public viewing in December 2021.

The top 4 winners from Malaysia represented the country at the international level competition held at GuangZhou, China. The winning designs at the international level were constructed at the Nan Sha Bird Park.
