UTAR Scholarly Output Performance in SCOPUS from 2018-2023

With the increasing awareness and hard work demonstrated by UTAR academics, the university is confident of further growth in terms of the number of publications accepted in Scopus and Web of Science (WOS) in the years to come.
 


The total number of UTAR’s scholarly output (includes all types of publications) from 2018 – 2023 as at 12 December 2023 is 4,903 with total citations of 46,546 and average Field-Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI) of 1.19. More than 85% of the scholarly outputs are published in the quartile journals, with 2,594 i.e. 62.2% of the scholarly outputs published in Q1 and Q2 indexed journals.

The cumulative total publications (articles, reviews, conference papers, editorial, books and book chapters) accepted in Scopus (as of 19 July 2024) increased from 7,236 in 2022 to 8,240 in 2023. Figure 3-1 below indicates the progress shown by UTAR researchers from year 2002 until 2023. The breakdown of year 2023 publication (articles, reviews, conference papers, books and book chapters) listed in Scopus (as of 19 July 2024) is as follows:

Arts & Humanities

UTAR academic staff from the fields of arts and humanities produces non-traditional scholarly works such as paintings, sculptures, music scores and others.

The non-traditional scholarly output (Creative Artwork) of UTAR academic staff from year 2018 until 2023 consists of 2 categories:

1) Creative Designs & Technologies;
2) Creative Media and Languages.

And 3 sub-categories under each category:

i) Exhibition Catalog;
ii) Experimental Creative Publication;
iii) Others.

As of 12 December 2023, there are 130 entries of Creative Artwork recorded from 3 Faculties i.e. Faculty of Arts and Social Science (FAS), Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF) and Faculty of Creative Industries (FCI).
