| 1 | Malaysian level Organizer for 2022 Guangdong-Hongkong-Macau Greater Bay Area and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) International Bamboo Design and Construction Competition This is the third year COSA involved in organizing the Malaysian level 2022 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area ASEAN Nations Design and Construction Competition. The competition was an initiative of The South China University of Technology and Guangzhou Nan Sha Bird Park. The competition aimed to provide opportunities to experience real construction and enhance academic exchanges among schools of architecture, design, and engineering amongst universities from south China and ASEAN regions. The theme for 2022 was “Half Pavvilion” COSA (UTAR) with the support of the Architects Association of Malaysia (PAM) and The Malaysian Bamboo Society (MASA) jointly hosted the event. More than 40 entries were received from participating universities in Malaysia. An exhibition of the winning entries was held at PAM center for public viewing in December 2022. The top winners from Malaysia represented the country at the international level competition held at GuangZhou, China. The winning designs at the international level were constructed at the Nan Sha Bird Park. This is by far UTAR won the most number of awards in the years we joined. We secured 10 awards at the international level. The awards were two champions, two-second places, third place, Honourable Mention, Design Process & Experiment Award, Structure & Construction Award, Design Innovation Award, and Most Popular Award. Six Bachelor of Science (Honours) Architecture teams from Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science participated in the competition. COSA Members En. Tan Kok Hong - one of the judges at the international level competition Dr Lim Poh Im and L.Ar Beh Jing Han were involved as part of the judging team at the national level.
