MAKNA Cancer Research Award 2012 application is now
open!
1. DETAILS
A. Objectives
The aim of the MAKNA Cancer Research Award is to
promote cancer research among young scientists.
B. Eligibility
Application is open to all Malaysian citizens with a
basic degree andaged 40 years and below, residing
in Malaysia and interested in research. Students who
are pursuing their postgraduate degrees are
encouraged to apply.
C. Research
Award
MAKNA will provide a maximum amount of RM100,000.00
per year in research award or awards. The value of
each award will be between RM10,000.00 to
RM30,000.00 for each project. These awards cannot be
used to purchase equipment and to employ salaried
personnel. The project must be carried out in
Malaysia and completed within 2 years duration.
D. Application
Procedure
All applications should be made through the
application form, which can be obtained from the
Academy of Sciences Malaysia/MAKNA’s website.
E. Submission
of Application
Hardcopy of completed application form must be
submitted with curriculum vitae and a
detailed letter of recommendation by academic
advisor, research supervisor or internationally
renowned scientist who knows the applicant along
with other relevant
documents and certificates.In addition, a CD
containing all the softcopies must be also
submitted.
F. Review
of Application
All
applications received will be reviewed by a
Selection Committee.
G. Presentation
After completion of the project, award holder must
submit a report (within 3 months) and also present
their findings at a suitable forum in Malaysia
(within 1 year).
H. Disbursement
The award will be disbursed through
the candidate’s institution.
I. Intellectual
Property
Research findings should be jointly and equally
owned by the researcher, the institutions and MAKNA.
2. INTERNAL SCREENING
All MAKNA Cancer Research Award 2012 application
will be reviewed at Faculty level Internal Screening
(1 evaluator) before submission to IPSR. Forms
required for Internal Screening are:

Internal Screening Form; and
-
Recommendation from RC and Faculty.

3. DEADLINE
Submit complete HARD COPY and SOFT COPY of the
application to IPSR by 10 August 2012 (or earlier)
after gone through the Internal screening process.
Make sure the application is complete and the latest
is submitted to IPSR.
