Newton-Ungku Omar Fund (NUOF)

BACKGROUND
Newton-Ungku Omar Fund (NUOF) is a collaboration programme between the Government of the United Kingdom (UK) and Malaysia to develop collaboration on research and innovation. Jointly established to address socio-economic issues in Malaysia, NUOF is expected to deliver outcomes through the Science to Action (S2A) Initiative, an initiative undertaken by the Malaysian Government to enable sustainable growth beyond 2020.

NUOF covers activities ranging from growing capacities of the Malaysian science and innovation community through fellowships, mobility schemes and joint centres; forging research collaborations on development topics; and establishing innovation partners and challenge funds to develop innovative solutions on development topics.

As one of the local delivery partners for the programme, the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) manages and implements programmes with Royal Society and British Academy which are as follows:

a) Advanced Fellowships
Provide established international researchers with an opportunity to develop the research strengths and capabilities of their research group through training, collaboration and reciprocal visits with a partner in the UK.

b) Mobility Grants
Help strengthen the research and innovation capacity of researchers from partner countries by assisting them in visiting or sending staff and students to the UK and developing networks, research projects and partnerships with their UK hosts/ counterparts and the wider UK research and innovation community.

ASM is pleased to inform several opening for NUOF programmes as follows and wishes to invite Malaysian researchers to apply:
