PhD (Engineering) (KA11099) and MEngSc (KA11098) Programmes at Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology (Perak Campus)

Overview
The Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology (FEGT) is entrusted with a mission to provide high-quality undergraduate and graduate education, conduct leading-edge basic and applied research, and support and enhance the profession of engineering and green technology through its education, research and service activities.

FEGT aspires to play a central role as the new knowledge provider of basic and applied aspects of engineering and green technology. The Faculty is devoted to providing high quality undergraduate and postgraduate programmes which will in turn produce qualified, skilful, knowledgeable and well-informed engineers, committed to pursuing knowledge in the frontiers of science

The PhD (Engineering) and MEng programmes offered by FEGT are fully research-based programmes.  This gives the opportunities to the prospective postgraduate students to carry out high quality basic and applied research in engineering and science as well as advancing the frontiers of science for the betterment of humanity with the guidance provided by the enthusiastic and experienced researchers in the faculty and the university.

The objectives of the programmes are to produce graduates who could respond to abstract problems that expands and redefines existing procedural knowledge, communicate results of research and innovation to peers engaged in critical dialogue, lead and originate complex social processes, with trained skills and knowledge and ensure the success of incorporating specialised area of engineering and science by carrying out quality research to spur the research and development in the nation, and demonstrate an awareness and understanding of intellectual property issues, appreciate and contribute to knowledge exchange.

Mode of Study
By Research (Structure A)
The programme consists exclusively of a research-based mode of study (Structure A). The research-based programme entails a specific programme of research under appropriate supervision. Financial Assistantship
To alleviate the financial burden shouldered by postgraduate students as well as to attract potential applicants to the postgraduate programmes, UTAR offers financial aid in the form of research assistantship. There are three types of assistantships in UTAR which are as follows:
(i)         Project Research Assistantship
(ii)        Research Scholarship Scheme
(iii)       Student Assistantship
The purpose of these assistantships is to provide researchers of UTAR a platform to source assistance in research work and also to provide opportunity for students or research assistants to be involved and assist in research projects and thus enhancing their exposure and experience in research. However, the quantity of assistantships is limited and on a competitive basis.
