Computer Vision and Intelligent Systems (CVIS) Group
The Computer Vision and Intelligent Systems (CVIS) Group was established in 2003 in the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (FICT) of Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR). The goal of the group is to investigate the scientific principles underlying human and animal intelligence, and its applications in solving real-world problems.

Our current emphasis is in developing vision systems that are trainable and adaptive, capable of functioning flexibly and robustly in complex changing environment. The current research interests are as follows, but not restricted to:
  • Document Analysis and Recognition
  • Computer Vision and Image Processing
  • Pattern Recognition
  • Machine Learning
  • Scheduling
  • Layout Optimization
  • Evolutionary Algorithms
  • Medical Imaging
  • Surveillance Systmes
  • Embedded Systems
  • Robotics
Group Leader: Dr. Tay Yong Haur tayyh@utar.edu.my
